Praying Mantis

We decided to keep the Praying Mantis for a bit to study it...the boys at school are pretty impressed with it too....here are a few photos from lunchtime the other day....

An Angel Got Her Wings

We lost Anthony's Grandmother unexpectedly this morning. Such a wonderful lady, and she will be sorely missed.

She hated photographs, though she always let me take them when I asked...and I'm so glad I did at every opportunity...

Window Light

One of the photography groups I am in has chosen a photographer of the month. We are to look through her photographs and choose a photo that inspires us. The photographer this month does some amazing things with light, especially window light, so I thought I'd give it a try with my front windows. I had Alex playing the guitar in the photos too...one because it's cool, and two, because the photographer also plays the guitar and I'll do anything that I think will help :-)

Sylvan Dell Books

I came across this book in a parrot magazine, and of course, immediately wanted it. I had no idea what I would find!!
I went to the webpage of Sylvan Dell Publishing, and was immediately impressed with their titles and awesome colors in thier example illustrations. I ordered the parrot book, and couldn't resist adding Kersplatypus and Turtles In My Sandbox to my shopping cart.
I can't tell you how awesome these books are! They all have Science or Math basis to them and the illustrations are just gorgeous!
Alex loves them, and the kids in my class did too!
I can't wait to order more, but I couldn't wait to share them with you!

And finally, this isn't a Sylvan Dell book, but a good one :-) I had hubby take this pic of Alex and I, it's been a while since we had a reading photo taken...I want to remember these moments when he will still sit on my lap and let me read to him. Pretty soon, he's going to be reading to me!!
