This sweet guy belongs to a friend of a friend. We happened to stop by and see her at the same time.
What a super sweet skunk...and so taken with his owner.
I hope to be able to do more photos some time soon..with better lighting and more planning :-)

Aviary Visit
I was able to visit my friend's home and aviary last week, and of course I took my camera!
This is her Catalina macaw. Isn't he gorgeous???
His wife is a Greenwing Macaw.
When they have babies, they'll be called "Flame Macaws". Oh, how gorgeous!!
We also got to go into her full flight cockatiel aviary. Alex thought it was really cool.
This momma 'tiel poked her head out to see what was going on
My friend and her neighbor both have pet pigs. They're siblings. Well, my friend's male pig was too exhausted to even lift his snout, so I had to photograph the female...she goes over every morning to spend the day at my friend's house. Apparently, food is more abundant...LOL
And every evening, she and the goose head home through the woods...

Relay for Life
I participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event this weekend.
Boy am I tired....but it was SOOO much fun!
Our small team of ladies raised over $1000 for the American Cancer Society so far!
And without further ado....some of my favorite images from the event...
My track sign...I advertised this year :-)
One of the teams was selling turkey legs as their fundraiser....they made this turkey leg to use as their track baton...such creativity! I hope they win the best baton contest this year...they deserve it!
A team across the track from our site
Relay is for friends
And creativity...I love to see the creativity of the teams
The beginning of the survivor walk...
Survivors...
Shelby is looking great this year!!
Not a survivor, but I just loved this photo of Shelby's grandma, Ms. Anne
Cheerleaders at the finish line cheered the survivors on as they walked their lap
I bought this luminaria in honor of my good flickr friend Laura.
Thinking of her during her struggle right now.
Other assorted luminaria
I think the highlight of the event for many people this year was the "Mr. Relay" contest. Contestants dressed up as women, most with makeup and all, and paraded around the audience looking for donations. The winner collected over $150!!!
The winner!!
I just loved this guy on his cart. He was busy too, carrying people to and from everywhere...he was going full speed every time I saw him!
The next morning....
If you don't do it...you feel like it...it's a LONG 18 hours...but such a worthy cause!

A New Addition
So, I was trying to decide if Yoda should have a mate. That was the intention with Yaddle before she passed away last November. I dunno, Yoda is sweet, and a gorgeous poser, but he isn't a cuddler, and could care less about me 90% of the time. Yoda was completely interested in meeting a nice girl to settle down with....he'd been saving for months, and already had the bling :-)
So, I went to the Exotic Bird Show in St. Augustine this past weekend with the intention of finding Yoda a gal to share his day.
Introducing....Miss Mellow Yellow! She was named by the breeder, and I think it is quite fitting. So we're keeping it. She is a female Pacific Parrotlet and is the American Yellow variety. She was born in March 2008, so only a month younger than Yoda. Such a beautiful little thing, even though she is in mid molt and looking a tad homely!
So, Mellow Yellow is Yoda's betrothed....and he's THRILLED with the idea! As soon as she came home, he was hopping around his cage, banging toys, ringing bells, and just generally showing off. Such a ham. And Sunday morning, I caught him practicing his ability to feed her when the time comes. Awww, birdy love.
They met on the play gym Sunday night, and after about one minute of nervousness, they were preening eachother's feathers and cuddled up.
Yesterday, they posed a bit for me...such good birdies!!
