Happy Feathery Friday!

This week for Feathery Friday, I took some photos of Yoda in my classroom, and then while he was preening...it made for some interesting positions :-)
Working Birds-Supervising my students

Yoda was on his cage while we did story time....then one of the students noticed that he wasn't there anymore..
Silly bird!!
Giddy Up

Time to preen!

First School Project

We got this assignment from Alex's teacher at registration, and just got it finished today. Alex was pretty proud of it, and I tend to agree...it's totally him. And that's the point right?
:-)
First School Project

And I have to share this...I snapped this to make sure my settings and lighting were ok for the poster photo. I asked Alex to look cute, and usually I get a goofy face of some kind, so I figured that this was a trash shot and didn't give it a second look other than to check the lighting. Well, I was thrilled when I saw this on the computer when I was processing the photos...what a super model!!

Watermelon

Last spring, Alex and my parents planted watermelon seeds at their house. When we were there the other night, Dad mentioned that the watermelons don't seem to be growing anymore, so we decided to pick them. Although they were small, they sure did taste delicious!!
Here is Yoda, posing with the mini melons...

Dodie's Birds Of Paradise

Dodie's Birds of Paradise in St. Augustine Florida

I went yesterday to buy some seed and a couple of new toys for Yoda... and took my camera along!
Dodie has so many adorable babies right now....gosh, I could have stayed and played and photographed all day long!
Here are a few of my favorites! If you get by to see Dodie, tell her you saw her precious babies here!

These little Turqoise Greencheek Conures were just GORGEOUS!! It's no secret that greencheeks are probably Dodie's most favorite bird, so I asked her which one she was keeping...she just looked at me with "that" look...haha! I knew she couldn't resist!
Actually, they have just DNA sexed these little darlings and when she finds out the sex, she'll make her decision...apparently she has a lonely lady at home that needs a husband ;-)

Fresh out of the water bowl! LOL
Wet

Oh, there are three baby Blue Crown Conures there now...and OH SO SWEET!
When I opened the cage door to take a photo, they lifted their little feet and held them out..."Please hold me!" Their little eyes said! When they realized that I wasn't going to immediately pick them up, this little guy tried to entice me a little more....
I have an itch...

Baby Hans Macaws
Ok, so I don't know much aboout them, but these guys were SOOO friendly! The Blue Crown Conures just sat there to see if I would pick them up...not the Hans Macaws! They came scurrying to the front of the cage to check me out! I had to hold two of them for a bit before they would be happy enough to move out of the way so I could close the door! LOL
Hans Macaw

I am not a cockatiel fan...anyone who knows me and parrots, knows this...nothing wrong with cockatiels...I've just had a not so great experience in the past...but look how beautiful and sweet this little guy is!! He could change my mind!!
Cockatiel

Eclectus Lady
I love how her beak hasn't even changed all the way to black...she's so sweet and calm!!

Morgan...crazy Morgan...he's a Blue & Gold Macaw, and if you know them at all...that's all I have to say! LOL

Babies!!!!
Dodie let me take some pics of the little pin-feather babies...Alex thought it was really cool to watch Dodie feed them...I have to admit, it is pretty cool :-)

Quaker Babies
The one you can see well is a Blue Quaker...I can't wait to go back and see him/her all feathered out! Behind him/her is a normal green quaker sibling.
Baby Quakers-A blue & a green!

This little lovebird was a HAM! Trying to get attention the whole time I was shooting!
I think Dodie said that he/she is a mix of a Peach Face lovebird and a Masked lovebird
